Thanks to the good people at E.T., I was able to get my hands on an early version of their "bridge plate" for the F3, and I like it. Now, this is not the finished product, the shoulder pad is still being configured, but even without it, it felt pretty comfortable. For now, the plate is designed to be used with their Studio Hybrid Core, but that is not a great match, because it stabs you on the chest when you use the unit shoulder mounted. I am happy to say, they are working on a permanent solution that will be specifically designed for this particular unit.
I can't wait for them to get this baby complete, I know it is going to be a wonderful, relatively low cost, option for this camera.
For my set up I "frankensteined" it with the arms from the E.T. mantis, the rosette extensions from Birns and Sawyer, and to mount it on a sacthler tripod, i mickey moused something using Hot Rod and Sachtler parts. Not great, but I needed something to hold me until E.T. is ready for prime time. I also added the new Anton Bauer power solution for the F3, mounted on 15mm rods, thanks to E.T.'s great idea to add holes in the back of their bridge plate making it possible to attach a 15mm studio clamp on there.
Here are some photos of the contraption.
ps
One thing I forgot to add, I got the Small HD DP4EVF and I really like the quality of the image compared to what I had before (a first generation Cineroid). I have not played with the Zacuto, but this DP4EVF works great and feels solidly made and with high quality finish. BTW, I don't work for any of these people, "i tells it like I sees it."
