Element Technica riser and shoulder kit vs Shape bp 7000 system. Looking at including one of these in my f3 purchase. Anyone using either of these.

Tilta makes a nice baseplate with shoulder pad for Af-100 and DSLR's. I have one and have used it with the F3 and it works very well. They are coming out soon with one for the F3 that's a little more heavy duty.

A few of us have it. Its nice, expensive, but nice. Built for the camera, so no adding parts, "jimmy rigging" things to fit. Direct bolt on, sorta speak.

Nate how does the magnets work. Does the should pad stay secure?

Well, magnets are attracted to metal and.....:)
There is just a row of small earth magnets which are very strong, along the top of pad which fit into holes made for them. It stays on just fine. FYI now they have a VCT-14 bottom plate and rear piece to make this unit go right to a VCT-14 quick release plate.

This is a hard one...the Shape unit has improved a lot. Looks their pad may be a bit more comfy.

Just FYI for current owners, ET did a swap-out program with a revised rubber shoulder pad. I only heard about it via word-of-mouth, and got mine replaced at Abel since I live 10 miles from them.

The new pad is softer, and the magnets are stronger and spaced further apart so it doesn't pop off anymore.

My new pad has yet to leave the baseplate without me specifically wanting it to anymore.

Yeah, recent. Maybe 6-8 weeks ago. I bought mine back in sept.

I'd call ET and ask for them to cross-ship you one. I know they (Abel) was collecting the old ones to destroy or send back to ET.
