GH4 electronic vs mechanical shutter any issues to be aware of? with speed booster?

Thinking about going ahead and ordering a BMCC Nikon G speed booster for use with GH4. I've read that it is not recommended but if used it will give wider crop than normal speed booster but you would have to use the camera with electronic shutter. Is there any issues with using the camera in this mode? I mainly bought this camera to use as video capture first and since I don't have native lenses I would likely just grab frames from the video if I need stills or just take occasional stills with the camera.

If you're using that with stills, you're limited in your ISO range (1600 on the GH3, not sure about the GH4), will have issues with anything moving fast (kinda like rolling shutter since data is read line-by-line) and the bit depth might be reduced.

Interesting. I was mainly using the camera for landscape capture (in video) and occasionionally may need to take a still grab. So the wider for me the better which is why I was thinking of going with the wider speed booster. Would probably not need to go too high on ISO. However the reduced bit-depth would be a deal breaker.

Yea, I checked again: Camera drops to 10bit, down from 12 bit, when in electronic shutter.

GH4 uses 10 bit sensor mode with e-shutter. IQ is a little worse if digging shadows heavily. On the other hand some lenses suffer shutter shock effect (like new 14-140mm) so e-shutter gives much sharper results with some shutter speeds. Rolling shutter is minimal.

GH3 uses 12bit e-shutter but rolling shutter distortions are often too visible because of slow sensor reading.
