FEATURE: Eight by the Moonlight

Trailer (NSFW):

The original idea behind this was to make a trailer for a genre movie which didn't exist. Kind of like on those Grindhouse movies, just for the fun of it.
We chose giallo as our genre, though this time it became a whole new genre of it's own, a Finnish giallo. We liked the idea so much
that we decided to start making the actual movie around the trailer. So at this moment it's nothing more than just a "fake" trailer,
but there will be a feature length movie coming later. I'll keep this post updated on how it goes with behind the scenes pics and footage
and maybe some clips from the actual movie.

This post will cover the progress of this project. Just a quick note if you are wondering why are we so slow; we are not professionals, we all have our daily jobs, families and such so finding free time for this beloved hobby of ours is most of the time quite hard. So we make what ever we can when ever we have time for it.

July - 2012
We started without any proper script, just a few ideas for scenes we thought might look "cool" on a trailer like this and that's how we started shooting.

December - 2012
Finished shooting the last scene for the trailer.

January - 2013
First edit for the trailer complete and the dubbing begins.

March - 2013
Final edit for the trailer complete and sound mixing begins.

April - 2013
The trailer is released and writing the script for the feature begins.

I'll reserve one last post, just in case there's need for it.

But I'll use this one also to ask a question if someone wanders into this post and watches the trailer. What is your opinion on the matter of making the footage and soundtrack look and sound old and dated? Does it bring anything to the viewing experience or is it just distracting? The reason I ask this is because we are debating about it ourselves, we did it for the trailer but not sure if it's worth doing for the whole movie.

That was pretty awesome! Way too long for a "trailer", but it gives a great idea of what the film would be like. If the feature can maintain this style and quality, then you will definitely have something on your hands. Obviously it's for a niche market, but the market is there. Good luck!
