SHORT: Eggsistential Issues - short film

This is a 48 hour film from last weekend, but it's actually really good. :) Shot on dvx100 and then made to look terrible with aged film filters. I contributed a little along the way and did last minute edits, but am primarily the composer. I'm really proud of what I did mixing different genres and production styles to go with this odd cross-over of period film and modern horror, and would barely change anything if I had more time. Required prop was an egg, character was reporter Ed Keegan and line was "That's what I'm here for." And if it's not obvious enough, we drew silent film as our genre.

Enjoy!

Awesome! congrats getting this done in a weekend it came out great, looks like it was a blast. I like how you treated the score using the instruments as sound effect and keeping it with that style throughout, it creates a strange tension between the humorous playful score and the horror elements.. makes the scares much less expected and creepy. havn't seen a short with a modern take like this do the silent film style this well down to the score, I think its very successful just in that right. the editing is really strong too, very well paced and nice gags.

Thanks, guys. Rob, your comments are great - that's exactly what I was going for with the music, so it's nice to know it came across!

I was really impressed with the editor getting it together so well so quick. The only part that gives me pause is the early part in the office with the pens. It's a great gag, the little mislead after the first mention of the mother, but I think it goes on a little long. We already had "the egg lady" and the modern horror element briefly introduced, so I think the momentum stalls a bit there and it would have been better to get right on with the business with the mother and girlfriend. Oh well. It's all right though, and still very good being that the key decision makers had just shot the thing from 2-9AM before overseeing the edit all day long! :)
