Just want to know if the addition crop factor of 1.3 on the d7100 can affect the image quality of video. This can be very handy for us wedding videogs because of the extra zoom that we can get from dx lenses if there is no image loss.
I've not tested the image but I've tested the 1.3x crop in-camera (at a store) and one thing to note is that it is 1.3x crop referenced to APS-C and not FF.
So the actual crop referencing FF is 1.3*1.5 = 1.95x Crop. Keep in mind too that with electronic lenses the D7100 cannot change aperture in LiveView period, before and during recording.
Been pre-testing shots for an upcoming short using the Crop function just to see what they come out like - the clips look fine to me & totally usable. I'm viewing on 24" iMac screen if that helps but the shots hold up nicely.
