I just got my 5d mkii body. I will be shooting a feature, with the majority of scenes being night time urban scenes, and other low light bars and rooms. Furthermore, not much camera movement. I am thinking of what lenses to purchase, and I was contemplating getting this behemoth.

Do you think the speed of the lense will be a disadvantage in my situation? The other option is to get the ef 24-70mm 2.8f L series and the sigma 70-200mm 2.8f instead. What would be the better buy? On top of this, I can probably purchase one more fast lense, maybe a ef 50mm 1.4?

Just need some advice on what would be best for my situation.

f/2.8 or faster for all night time shoots. Boosting ISO to 800 and above will be quite grainy. The H264 codec just doesn't perform well in low light or high ISO. I'd seriously look into the 50 or 85mm f/1.2. Unbelievable lens. After using it, I couldn't believe the difference it made for night time shots.

You're not doing live documentary in which greater focal length and fewer lens changes needed.
The optical quality on virtually all f/2.8 is much better than the slower lenses.

I'd invest in the 24-70 and 70-200 mm f/2.8 over the 28-300mm. You'll be pleased with the quality.
