Have a client who wants a "Discovery" HD look. Razor edge etc…
I flipped some switches and came up with these test shots. I am astounded at the lack of noise. Its shot at 15db w/ a simple table lamp using a pedestrian lens…wide open at 2.8

The noise really doesn't bother me at all, but I do see some sharpening artifacts, especially on the coiled guitar strings, and along where the top joins the body in the very last shot. I might back off a notch on the sharpening, but overall, it looks pretty darned good.

Hi,

you don't have much motion in there and it is motion that will always undermine the interlace video. I would do some motion tests on footage like what your client wants to shoot and also shoot some of the same at 30p. Then review.

But other than that idea, the footage looks good.

Best,

Jan

Thanks!, I'll keep fiddling. Can't wait to try the setting under proper light with a fast PL.

Discovery look? Take a 7d and set it to full auto everything and wide open.

Make sure you blow your highlights (actually everything over 50 IRE) out of the window, hold it with one hand and supersharp it in post.
