EDL's and P2 files

I've been trying to figure if EDL's is any kind of help when working with P2 footage. As far as I can tell, they only refer to timecodes on tapes, not individual files, and as I don't really have any P2-tapes around, it seems rather pointless. It does however leave quite a workflow-gap, between Avid and - well anything else.

How would you go about moving the project to something like Scratch? Or another CC package?

Well, you could output to tape or you could export a quicktime. If you were going to color correct on a da vinci system, then you would output to tape, and you would make an edl of your sequence. The edl is useful to show where the shot breaks are.

Crossfades shouldn't be a problem on a da vinci. I've never heard of Scratch, but the Avid Nitris is a very capable system for doing color correction. The great thing about staying with an Avid workflow is you can offline edit on a cheap, software only system and then just bring your Avid sequence and your media to a high end Nitris bay and do your color correction and hi-def outputs.

Assimilate made scratch specifically for SS media and there for file based systems. Just flatten your time line I would even take out any transitions and export your EDL make sure none of the file names are changed. Import the EDL to Scratch as usual if you have a good grader they shoudl be able to do all your transitions in the grade.
