Editing with HD110 Footage

I'm a director trying to learn how to edit myself for smaller projects. I'm using an HD110 with an M2 adapter. I'm just having a little trouble uploading my footage. I'm using final cut express until I can afford FCP and everytime I upload video I go to play it back and it's not in real time. It's twice as fast. What I'm having to do is change the speed of each clip. Right now I'm only using silent clips and I know that once I start filming with sound that this is going to be a huge problem. If anyone knows what's going on with this and how to fix it I'd appreciate it. I admit that I'm a newbie so I don't need any smart remarks. I need help.

Are you shooting 24p?

The HD110 records its footage as 24p; Final Cut Express doesn't support 24p, so I'd guess it's treating each 24p frame as a 29.97 frame, and thus speeding up the footage accordingly. If you're observing the speedup to be about 25%, then that's probably what's happening.

By the way, we don't attack people for being newbies here. :)

thanks for the help. I'll explore that.

And I've been reading through a lot of the threads and have been finding that filmmakers are some of the most supportive and helpful people out there. There's no 'internet arguing'. So I'm not afraid anymore, haha.

Welcome aboard. :) I can't vouch for other filmmakers' sites, but around here, we don't let people make personal attacks.
