editing timebase offline problems

I have a project on 1080i60 . I edited the footage before i had a FCP HD on a a minidv sequence. Now I am online it now that i have FCP HD. The files work without rendering on a HD 1080i60 compression, HD 1280x1080 aspect ratio with an editing timebase of 23.98. When I go to media manager to make an offline project. I do the same settings. Problem is when i open the file the editing timebase is set at 29.97 and i can't change it! Which means I have to render it! Anyway to fix this problem? How do i get a 23.98 timeline?

thanks

While in the Timeline window with your Sequence open in it, go to Seqeunce > Settings. Change your timebase to 23.98.

Select all your clips, COPY, DELETE, change time base, PASTE. Usually works for me. Make a copy of your sequence first if it makes you feel better. :D

It won't let me change the timebase. I can't choose any other but 29.(i usually have the option but not now) I tried copying the clips and pasting it to a 23.98 timeline but it would playback black!

I get this error: Frame rate conflict found. the frame rate of the preset chosen to reset your new offline sequences to differs from items in your selection. the preset's frame rate will be ignored and the original frame rate of the items in your selection retained

You need to check the properties of your footage, then. In the Browser, right click on a clip used in the Timeline, from the pop-up menu choose Item Properties. Check everything out. In the Browser, to the same for the Sequence you've already worked in. Veryfy everything, something is not right.

the DVCPRO footage is 23.97 and the minidv footage i edited is at 29.97 so when i offline it, it can only make a 29. timeline, it can't make a 23.97. i rendered it with a a 29.97 timeline but my sound is out of sync.

What is your timeline, DVCPROHD or DV? I was assuming you were using a DVCPROHD Sequence. It sounds now like you're using an NTSC-DV Sequence. I would have down converted the DVCPROHD to SD or upgrade the DV to HD, then work with all one format. I try to avoid editing off-line as much as I can.
