Editing Sound and Using Nero video 11

Hi Guys,

I am currently working on a short film and had couple of initial scenes done. I recorded sound seperately and video seperately and able to sync it.

However, I wanted to use the music in my movie and a friend of mine gave his music (two of is original) The first song is used for

15 secs in the movie. I am not able to achieve the music coming out gradually and slowly fades away.. Also I am using Nero video 11 and
unable to reduce the size of the soundtrack. The first sound track is 3 minutes long and I am not able to cut it into 15 secs.

How can I achieve the proper sound and use the music in a professional manner?

I appreciate your input.

Look into a dedicated audio editing program for your soundtrack. A program such as the freeware program Audacity can get you started.

Short of what Steve recommends, I looked into Nero Video 11 and from just a cursory glance it looks like you need to switch to the advanced editing layout to access keyframes for audio and video. That should allow you to trim your clip within the time line and use the keyframes to automate your sound levels.

You may also want to hunt down a forum that is dedicated to Nero Video since this is more a program operation question than a sound one. The "sound" answer is to trim the clip to the length you want and either put a fade on the head and tails or automate the volume. But how you do that in Nero Video?????
