Edius is very versatile as far the range of codecs it accepts. I can edit pretty fast with it and I know a lot of news rooms also use it. Videoguys.com has it for $699. They also have it packaged with the HDspark card with allows for realtime viewing full size out to a 2nd monitor (I use a hdtv) via HDMI for $849.00. The second monitor is critical for color correction etc.

I've been using Vegas for the past couple of years as it's effective and easy to use for straight up editing. Vegas would work for you.

Final Cut Pro is the EASIEST. This is probably what you are looking for.

Avid is the most robust and is used in the most professional post houses.

Vegas is very affordable and used by many Youtube producers, but it works different from most other Non Linear Editors

Edius - Never touched this one. Not very popular among professionals.
