editing set up

I was trying to edit some footage I captured through HDVxDV and I was curious about how there is no audio. Is that normal with this program? Do I have to recapture the audio by itself through final cut? Then when editing in final cut, what sequence settings should i use?

No, if the camera is set up correctly, the audio goes right to mag or tape and transfers to your NLE on board the tape. Using the camera's right side input controls, be certain you're switches are set to Mic+48v if you're using the on-board mic when you're recording which is poor but most stock cam mics are. It should be plugged in to "INPUT 1". Also be sure to set your volume controls on the left side to an appropriate number, 5-8 usually does it. You'll know if you have audio throughput if you flip out the screen affectionately known as "Flipper" and see movement on the scale bars at the bottom of the screen. If those bars are moving, you have sound going to the tape and the problem is elsewhere.
