Editing Mixed Footage Files on CS4 Pr

Hey Guys! I've got some MTS 1080/30 & Hi 8mm that a band wants me to edit. Any suggestions on making these somewhere near respectable together?

I know some experimenting and effects will be required. I have CS4 MC. The footage was shot in low to medium light, and the close-ups were on the digital, with wides on the analog.

As usual, the analog is a nice 220 grit, and the digi is spot on! lol

Any thoughts or ideas on a workable solution would be great.

So basically you need to make really bad footage look good? ;)

There's that old trick of shrinking the footage and having a larger, blurry duplicate in the background -- but if the footage is shaky this can make folks feel nauseous.

I've never been in your situation but my gut would say to hammer the analog footage (add grain, maybe posteriziation if you're in the mood -- that sort of thing). If the band is a rock band they might like that look anyway.

Yeah! that's been my thinking. Just kind of use it as a novelty item in the vid.

Is there a better alternative out there than AVI to digitize the 8mm ?

It just looks so bad compared to the native digi files.
