Editing DVD footage help!

Hello,
My friend is coming over tommorow and I am editing some wakeskating footage he has recorded. The only problem is that he shot it on one of those camcorders that record straight to a dvd. I'm editing on Vegas 5. How do I convert these files into editable files? Or are they editable already? Tim.

You can use Womble MPEG Editor for this. Probably the best editor (as far as I know) for .mpg or .vob files. In Vegas you must reconvert your DVD for editing, in Womble original files are exported as "direct stream copy"...no quality loss.

I've never heard of Womble, How would I Re-convert the dvd for editing? Thanks sebastion for the help. Tim.
