Editing DVCproHD - any updates?

Yeah I thought AVID recognized DVCPro50 30p files. We shoot this at work all the time for greenscreen stuff. When I goto import it through the Media Tool, it says its DV50 which is their version of DVCPro50. OR are you just saying it doesnt support DVCPro50 nativly and that they use their own "codec." Just curious/confused I suppose.

Thanks,
John G.

PS- The HVX book was amazing, well written, and thoughtout! I couldnt put it down.

8 bit 10 bit??

8 bit 10 bit??

Does anybody know which NLE's edit in 8 bit and which ones edit in 10 bit?

How much more of difference does it make in your edits between the two?

You're a lucky man. I had to buy the Broadcast V4 upgrade because of the missing 720p/25/50 support :embarasse

Hm, if V3 is not supporting it, what is 720/24p/50p over 60? NTSC cameras, that can record 50/25 frames a second?

Right -- the VariCam always records 60fps. Up until the HVX came out there was no such thing as a 720/50p recording format, so the VariCam has always been recorded at 60fps.

Just for the record, Cineform Aspect is $500, not $200!

Correct. However, the NLE-independent Connect HD is $199. Both Connect and Aspect are capable of converting DVCPro50 and DVCProHD material into the CineForm AVI format for editing in Vegas, Premiere, etc. However, Aspect also includes the accelerated real-time engine and accompanying plug-ins for Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and 2.0. They also both support every format of the JVC, Sony, and Canon cameras -- even CF24, 24p and 24F.

Can someone share some real-world experience about the advantages of Aspect over Connect here, please? And what about their Prospect product? This naming confuses me, as a non-native english speaker...
