Well I just wanted to see what sort of setups you guys are running for your editing.

I personally am just using a intel core 2 duo processor with 3gb ram and vista 64 bit etc. Tell me what you think? :) i think its pretty fast

Core 2 Quad 3.2GHz, 8GB of RAM, GTX 285, Windows 7 x64 for the desktop. The new MacBook Pro 2011 laptop for portable.

Well . . .

It's kind of way behind the curve. By now, quad-cores with at least 8 GB are more the standard.

Um...

Dunno if I have as many Cores as 'Lightsaber' Jimmerson up there but I have an i7 with 12Gigs of TriRam (whatever that means) and a GTX 480.
Win 7 pro 64 running off a SSD.
So far pumping on all cylinders in PP CS5 with very little render required but choking a bit in After Effects.
Runs the latest games really nicely though... heh heh

Wilbur, you should be quad core with that...technically six if you count multithreading!

How's that 570 treating you, flambe? I'm thinking about upgrading to the GTX 580 myself (I tell myself it's for Mercury, but, well, Black Ops will benefit too...)

PC 2x DC Xeon 3.0. 8 GB ram, quadro 4500, too many hard drives.....
MAC 2x QC Xeon 3.0, 14 ram, a 1 GB quadro card, forget the exact model.

does anyone know the feasibility of using nvidia tesla gpus to create a windows 7 supercomputer to run adobe cs5?

^ +1, i would think you would have to write(code) your own driver, if you could do that , Adobe should be paying you.

i7 2600 o/c to 4.4 GHz 8 GB ram 2 TB drives (Will increase later) Quadro 600 (Yeah, I'm that cheapskate) Win 7 64 old Dell 27" monitor.

A very good forced air cooler and additional case cooling.
The latest sandybridge series are very good wrt heat generation.

I didn't build it myself, but spec'ed out an editing workstation from Scan Computers, who also did the o/c and ran it through a batch of stress tests before shipping.

I'm running:

Quad Core 3ghz

8gb RAM

1tb disk

radeon 5450 graphics card

Let me know what you think? I was previously running a intel core 2 duo with 3gb RAM.. so how much faster should this be?

cheers,

I like it, fairly quiet, seems to run hot though, so either a spacious case or decent cooling is needed.
My CPU is now my bottleneck, especially for AE.

Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz. 4 GB Ram. Windows XP. Editing on Avid Media Composer.

My home editing PC is a Core 2 Duo 2.3 GHZ 3.5 GB Ram Windows XP.

I need to upgrade my home PC processor and add a bit more RAM.

Brandon, definitely go to the DDR3 architecture when upgrading RAM. The cost of DDR2 these days is ludicrous.

New: Mac Pro six-core 3.33GHz (2010 Westmere), 8GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770 (1GB), CS5
Will soon double RAM to 16GB and probably add Quadro 4000 (2GB)

Old: HP xw8200 workstation, 3.2GHz Xeon, Quadro FX1400, Avid Media Composer
