editing CODEC, CS6

What's a good compromise CODEC I can use for editing in the Adobe CS6 suites on a win7 machine?

I've got to do some noise reduction on some AVCHD files in AE, and it's making editing performance in PPro and exporting the files extremely slow. Not a surprise, but an annoyance I've got to deal with.

I'm thinking that one solution is to do the noise reduction in AE, then export the cleaned files and use the cleaned files for editing in PPro. I don't want to suffer the recompression of saving to AVCHD, so I'm looking for a less compressed and hopefully less lossy CODEC option. But size matters -- I've got some disk space issues too.

I'm leaning toward either the default lossless AVI format (I'm afraid it will result in huge files), or maybe AVC-Intra. But I'm a noob at this. Hopefully a more experienced hand will chime in and point me in the right direction. I actually thought that Adobe might have a CODEC included that was designed for just this kind of application, but if it's there I don't see it...

Wouldn't it be better to finalize an edit, then load the Premiere timeline into After Effects and do a final render out with the noise reduction filters in place from there?

Otherwise, DNxHD (free) or Cineform ($150 and up) are your best options on the PC platform. Cineform edges out in performance.

Try the AVID DNxHD codecs. They are very similar to ProRes. And free. Search for "Avid Codec Pack LE" ad download the most recent version, I think 2.3.4.
