Editing AVCHD

Hi...
I've been looking into the possibilities of the new AVCHD DSLRs, ie the 5D, and the GH1 when it comes out, but the sticking point appears to be editing the footage in MC.
Is anyone, especialy in PAL land doing this, if so how? I know AVCHD isn't supported directly by MC, so I'll have to transcode into (I assume) DNxHD xxx.
I would rather not shell out much on extra software if possible.
I don't have, and can't afford either Mojo DX or Nitris DX.

Thanks for that, I think a saw referance on the Avid forum, but DVCPro HD is thin raster, and I was hoping to keep the full 1920 x 1080 frame size.
I already edit DVCProHD from my HVX, so I know my system can handle it.
Still, it'll be a while before I buy anything, and Canon will have to do something about the manual control first.
