GH2 Editing AVCHD w/ Premiere Pro CS5.5 Macintosh -> Unrecognized Compression

Premiere Pro is "supposed" to recognize the .mts files from the GH2. When I try to load one I get "The file has an unsupported compression type."

Googling around for a solution all I have found is people saying they uninstalled and reinstalled PPro and this fixed things. Didn't work for me. I uninstalled PPro and reinstalled and still no change. I'm not finding any other ideas out there other than convert the footage to a different format to work with it. Honestly why go digital if you are just going to have to go back to waiting for the footage to convert like we had to wait for the tapes to run to capture.

I'm using a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo running 10.6.7 OSX. The symptom of the problem is also evidenced by the sequence presets for AVCHD format not being available. I just upgraded from CS4 specifically to work with AVCHD from my new GH2. My desktop Windows 7 machine running PPro CS5 can edit the clips but it would be very useful to have my Mac also able to work with them in the field.

C'mon this can't be that hard can it?

If you don't have the presets listed, there is definitely something 'wrong'. I don't know what 'upgraded' from CS4 means, since I've gotten the complet CS5 package, I have both CS4 and CS5 up. CS4 was able to do some AVCHD as I recall.

The other thing I do is I import the whole file hierarchy, from PRIAVATE on down, (I use the drag and drop on the project area). My procedure is to archive the SD card completely, then drag and drop the PRIVATE directory frome the archive folder into Premiere.

One other item, which I've not experienced because I have the keys, is when using the 'eval/trial' packages some elements are not enabled. Don't know the status AVCHD on that account...

CS5.5 trial has most all the codecs so it works fine with AVCHD.
