I have recently completed a documentary, and I am now beginning to enter it into the festival circuit. Anyway, I am entering into one, and the festival requires the project to be on a MiniDV tape. The entire project is in 16:9 SD, so I assumed that I could connect my DVX100b as a deck and record the entire project to it. I have tried many ways to get this on but so far I have had no luck!
First, I set external AV monitoring to firewire out, and both the audio and video played, synced up on my camera. However, it wouldn't let me record to the blank tape.
Next, I tried to do the print to video function. I set up everything in the popup window, and then let it go to full screen and start to play the video. It was playing back on my DVX, but once again, it would not let me record. Same as the first attempt.
By then, I had gone through manuals and online tutorials and came across the edit to tape function. I realized that this would be the best, since it deals with device control and timecode, etc... Only problem is, the edit to tape option in the File menu is greyd out. I tried to see if it would come up if I put a tape with existing TC in my camera, but it is still greyd out.
So nothing is working for me here. Am I totally missing something, or is there a different way to do this?
As a side note, I have my in and out points set on my timeline, and I have it set so the TC starts at 00:58:40;00. Also, I am running FCP 7 on an iMac i7 (FW 800 only!).
Thank you!
