EDIT on 29.97 or 59.94 timeline?

When I shoot standard 480i footage on my HVX200A, for best results, should I edit the DV on a 29.97 timeline, or 59.94? I am using Final Cut Pro which gives me the options to set my sequence for either. It seems if I drop a clip onto 29.97 timeline, it requires no render and plays out directly. I tried with the 59.94 mode and my DV clips (same ones) played in the viewer but required me to render them before playing out. The end results seemed to be the same in quality and motion. Any help, suggestions and feedback on this will be greatly appreciated.
 
Thanks....is it normal to have had to render the DV when I tried the 59.94 mode?
