Edit---Export to tape---recapture question

I made a 5 minute long video and edited it all in adobe premiere pro 2. it was shot at 24p on my dvx and also it was 16x9. i brought it into a 24p timeline that was 4x3 and shrunk the video to fit the 4x3. once it was all edited and rendered i sent it to the tape as a final piece and it looked fine and dandy like its supposed to. then i wanted to recapture what i just sent to the tape back onto my computer for storage as a final edited segment with the same quality as the original footage and the original edited version i sent to the tape. when i make a new project with a 24p timeline that is 4x3 and recapture the video, it looks like garbage.

first off in the source window it has horizonal lines throughout the entire thing so i put it into the time line and right clicked it and went to field option and interlaced it and it solved the lines problem.

now when i render it to watch it looks a little better, but it still doesnt look like i think it should. and now every 3 frames it duplicates one two times so it plays sort of slow and choppy.

anyone know what im doing wrong?

Also when i right click the clip in the source and go to properties, it says its frame rate is 29.97 and then after that it says (24p). i dont know if that means anyhting. i just want the copy i capture onto the computer the same as the one i sent to the tape.

Don't recapture it - just export the original project's timeline as a movie

When I export it as a uncompressed movie it is 8gigs, that is too big for me. I thought that since when you put your edited work back to tape, its quality is that of the original footage straight from the camera so i thought i could just recapture it as if it was just normal camera footage (edited)

Using the DV codec is not lossless, only if you do cuts only editing. Any footage that has to be rendered is losing quality.
What claw is saying is, instead of exporting to tape, then recapturing a DV file. You can skip the tape part and just save your project as a DV file.

As far as your original problem, maybe post a screen grab and we can better see what the problem is. -Kevin
