Edge to Edge Sharpness on LE

thanks for letting me know that, im new to 35mm adapter, going to barely receive my first (LEX) next thursday, going with Zeiss Contax mount on E0S adaptor, anybody doing that setup?

I do. But have to make my own set up ring.
The EOS adapter is not very steady on the Letusadapter. So you can't use a FF or handle the focus ring without shaking... One of my lenses went down on the ground...

I'm having the same issues with the nikon mount but apparently there's a new version on the way. The lens isn't falling off but does move side to side when mounted,- bugs the hell out of me. Anyone else having this issue or is it just my nikon mount?
Shane.

Shane - are you saying the mount itself has some play where it connects to the Letus, or is it between the lens and the mount that you're seeing movement?

There's play within my EOS mount from Letus. The lens actually wobbles a bit which makes it unusable to me. Luckily my main mount is OCT 19. Aaron at Letus said they're looking into the issue.

Definitely being looked into. My Nikon mount does it, however now that I've got a Follow focus it doesn't bother me one bit. I will still want to get the new adjusted Nikon mount but it works.

There's also no issue with the PL Mount. -sniff sniffle- I would've had an OCT-19 mount buuuut....

all the nikon mounts i have used on adaptors have been quite poor. Some worse than others. I want a nikon mount like you get on a nikon camera! The Letus one, is like the Brevis one, just held on by filmsy bits of metal on the underside. I think Steve Cahill was looking into buying a high end one a fitting it onto the Letus.

Ditto Philip,
There must be some some cheap shop that specializes in the Nikon mounts for inexpensive 35mm adapter makers. I won't go into to details but if it holds in the lens and maintains back focus you're doing OK.

It's actually difficult to get any of them to carve the adapter properly, and very expensive. However, expect to see a change soon.

Hi Ian, we had contact about the Contaxs. But, you sold the Redrock and have the Lex ... and the same EOS mount problem. Hien reported me also to help me. So that's at least two with the same problem...

Must say the Zeiss Contax lenses are beautiful on the Lex. Do you have experience with the 35mm/1.4 and the Sigma 21/1.8?

Arno

I didn't realise there was a contax mount. Their Nikon Zeiss glass is stunning as you probably know.

Yeahp. There's a Contax and Pentax mount for LetusEx. I use the Pentax (m42) often along with the Nikon. Just that easy to change out.

MIGHT have a look at the Contax + Zeiss setup, but still those lenses run a pretty penny. I think the 85mm is like 600 or so?

Actually Zeiss Contax lenses have a few advantages over their new Nikon mount cousins. They are a huge bargain in terms of optical quality-price ratio. 1) They are much cheaper and available on the used market. 2) Much wider range of optics from 15mm-300mm including outstanding zooms. 3) They all focus in the "right" direction compared to cine primes so your ac won't have a brain hemerage.

These lenses adapt to EOS mount with a simple $20 adapter and work very well on 35mm adapters. I had a nice set that I used on my M2 before I moved on to the LX. I highly recommend them. Optically they are nearly identical to the ZF's.

Thanks for the tip. I wish it was fast to switch between mounts. That would be a cool thing for the adapter makers .
