Edelkrone lowered price on sliders for 2016

Just letting you know Edelkrone has new pricing for 2016 on a few things like their sliders and modules. I bought a new medium pro slider for $799 now $599. Some nice prices. They refunded me the difference with no hassles. If your looking it might be a good time to buy.

Still not convinced about the quality of the Edelkrone system. A lot of users report being unhappy with the sliders despite their ingenious design.

I'm not certain I want an Edelkrone over, say, a Kessler or Rhino slider. The price is tempting though.

YOU!!!! ....just saved me $100. Thank you. I would not have known about this had it not been for this tread. I purchased a week before the price change. Just emailed them...and they are sending me a refund. So.....thank you. DVXUser rocks!

IMHO Edelkrone serves a specific purpose in that they pack smaller given how they travel. Additionally the travel method allows for some dolly use. If that's not important there'd be no need to get Edelkrone. For the same reason they're not great for use sans tripod. From everything I've heard the V2 design solved the issues with earlier versions.

I have a few smaller Edelkrone products that I'm happy with, overall. Been thinking about these sliders…

Lower price is nice. Can't help to think this is pre-NAB stock clearance. It's been a while since then launched a major new product. I wonder what they're up to.

I'll probably wait and see what happens.

How are you liking it so far? I've always thought that it was a great design but I never pulled the trigger. I'm concerned about my tripod flexing and dipping when the carriage is at one of the extremities.

This is how I thought about it. So...the goal for everyone here....smooth controllable movement that is portable. This ticks the box it was intended for. I got the smallest version because I did not want to be faced with flex issues. It also allows for the max weight and can easily fit into a backpack. Its also the most affordable.

So, the downside....their motion control is just not useable for me. They can not be used during interviews. The motors are just too loud. So....I decided to get this little slider for really quick...run and gun...in the moment work. I did not want a motor because the biggest draw is being able to set it up in seconds....leave it on the tripod...and move quick.

I decided when I am ready to really get serious about motion control...I will get an entirely new rig that ia bigger and better suited. The Kessler Second Shooter System. That said....the Kessler can not do what this little thing does....it can't be use really fast and really compact.

So different tools for different jobs. I can say....this little Small version is rock solid...super tiny, you get a ton of movement...and sets up in seconds. I have it rigged up on the tripod with a few Kessler Quick Release plates. I can get it on and off in seconds.

Now its $100 less....its a great deal. You will be happy. No issues at all with mine. Kinda in love with it.

And if you are worried about issues...just get the lifetime warranty. Its $50. That means I can beat the heck out of this thing...and they will always get it back to perfect working order. That solves any questions about issues for me. The portability and design are worth it.

Thanks for the insight! The design might not work as well with the longer lengths, but like you say the shorter one seems like it would work well. A short slider could live on the tripod and wouldn't be in the way when it wasn't in use. Seems like a great tool to have.

You got it. I use carbon fiber manfrotto sticks with their biggest ball mount. I have the slider on its own fluid swivel head...so I can do angles. Everything is really sturdy and can do most of every movement you would ever want to do. I leave it inmost of the time. I can take it off if it gets heavy (when used as a monopod).

One good thing too...their customer service is pretty solid.

I would avoid Edelkrone's products - particularly their sliders (although I own and like the FocusOne). Half-baked is the dominant theme with them. Most of their gear requires constant adjusting and tweaking with extended use. The sliders flex (even more recent versions) at the extreme ends.

I do think the general compactness/portability of a lot of their stuff is great for some specialized use. The motion control system is a total joke, but might be appealing to some for it's simplicity (so simple you can't override it's actions once it starts moving).

Is it the perfect system no, but I love mine. I can pack it into my gura gear carry bag and away I go. I think the sliders are great, I have the medium pro and it is very nice for my use. I do feel the Xlarge version will have to much flex but I never used one so that is just a guess. Mine holds 30 lbs which is amazing for the size of the unit. I use it for mainly wildlife/macro use so size does matter. I fitted mine with Really Right Stuff clamp and dovetail so the setup is fast on and of the tripod. I agree the modules are loud but again the speed of the setup makes u for that a bit in my opinion. I do mainly still work but this system allows me to go to video very quickly with the larger gear like the Canon 200-400mm. So for me I just love it, are better systems yes but this compact no.

h my rig. I do not use the mic with the action module in use but manual movement yes or use the zoom of camera.

I forgot to add I do not care for the hard case and returned it. Putting something like the clamp on top made the case unusable. No attachment points for a backpack is not that great either. I bought the Gitzo GC2202T Padded Traveler Tripod Bag Series 2 and it fits like a glove and has attachment points and a shoulder strap. Pricey but very functional.
