Hello!

Yep, I have six (6) of Edelkrone's first version follow focuses (seen here on page four, although without the friction gear which I believe was never actually made: http://issuu.com/edelkrone/docs/followfocus?viewMode=magazine&mode=embed ). I've used two of them, but four have never been used, although I did adjust the gearing for each one. Each follow focus comes with three adjustable gear rings as well.

These follow focuses work fantastically (most with zero backlash) with the ability to put the knob in a variety of places, which can be much more ergonomic. Depending on how you hold your camera, it can place the follow focus closer to you than any other system that I've ever seen (except Edelkrone's newest one) without using a whip.

The only issue with the follow focus is that the gear is incompatible with certain types of flat gearing, the types that are usually built into the lens (like cinema lenses). However, it does works perfectly with the 3 adjustable gears that come with it and will work with other adjustable gears as well.

I tested and adjusted each follow focus, so here is how they all stack up:

Three have zero backlash (inlcluding both of the used ones) - One Used Left
Two have negligible backlash
One has about 1mm of backlash

You can adjust the ones that have backlash into zero backlash, but then the feeling can become a bit gear-y.

For one of the used follow focuses, I used two of the gear rings on a lens, and they were trimmed up to about 77mm and 80mm outside diameters. If needed, though, I can swap these with one of the other follow focuses.

When these first came out, I believe they were originally $300 or so, but now you can't get them anymore. Edelkrone's current focus plus, which is similar to this design, is $800. I will sell these follow focuses for $195 shipped (or best offer) anywhere in the U.S. (or plus shipping everywhere else.)

These follow focuses are solid and solid performers, so definitely check them out if they fit your style. (Also, these come with white marking disks, I just forgot to put them back on for the picture below.)

Thanks!

Just checking if you have any still available? Also, if the gear is incompatible with Cine lenses, does this mean it's also incompatible with Redrock-style clamp-on gears?
