Ok, so I shoot in HD, and then convert it to ED (720x480p).
Can I put this on a recordable DVD?

Or do DVD recording applictions lay down the footage interlaced?

DVD is Mpeg and does not really encode quite that way. I usually make my dvds from 23.98 FPS quicktimes, but they always playback with a 3:2 Pulldown unless the TV/Player combo reverses it for you.

So you are saying that current dvd disks (even store bought ones) playback basically with a pulldown, so putting footage from the hvx200, that was shot as 720p, and converted to 480p, would have a pulldown, and not really be progressive as in 1080p or 720p, which I believe is a format that always plays all the info non-interlaced, without pulldown.

That being said progressive HD is always without pull down?
If that is the case, I think I am starting to understand that concept, otherwise please correct me.

So following that example, what concerns with DVD playback would one have to be concerned with when converting 720p footage to 480p footage for current dvd-r or dvd+r type recordable disks?

I am just trying to determine if it is best to shoot 720p and convert, or shoot straight 480p.
My goal for this project would be to playback as a projected image from a recordable dvd-r or dvd+r type device through a dlp home type projector.
