Echo in 24p mode

I just got my DVX the other day... love it so far... but when I shoot in 24p mode, I hear an echo in the audio coming through my headphones. What's the deal? Is this normal or did I get a lemon?

Is that a dvx100, 100a, or 100b. If it is not b it will have that echo as I understand. They corrected that in b.

I think the B will have echo if you are monitoring post tape rather then before the signal has actually been recored.

Actually, that is normal. If you're shooting with the DVX100B, there is a menu setting that you can change so that you here the live audio as it's coming in.

HP MODE. Set it to "LIVE", not to "RECORDING".
