eBay Selling Delima

I am selling my glidecam on ebay, I had US shipping listed but a few bidders asked if i would ship international. I said yes as long as it was a confirmed address and they pay shipping.

So a international bidder wins and was having trouble getting paypal to work, after a few days the payment comes with "address unconfirmed".

So now i am wondering if i should risk it or refund him and give a second chance to someone that is in Utah.

Only reason i am thinking twice about it is the transaction is for over $1300 and i have been ripped off before with international deals.

What would you do?

Some people just cannot be helped. Dilemma? Are you kidding? This screams "SCAM" with nine point red alarm bells! The buyer is international - strike one in my book. Buyer "having trouble with paypal"? FAIL!!!! That's it, you don't need to know anything else. You don't walk away - you RUN away. And now "address unconfirmed"? Wow - what are you doing here, "thinking" about this? You know, if you get ripped off, while the fault is always with the criminal, it's one of those cases where I just cannot feel sorry for the victim. They just do not learn from experience. You already got ripped off once on an international deal. But I guess that's not something to learn from, huh? I mean really, sometimes I think people put up these posts as a joke. What in the world is there to think about? Wow.

I think that's a no.. ^

Let me know how it goes, Ebay screw's us all at one point or another I think.

well i pretty much made up my mind, but i always like to ask others to make sure its not just me thinking weired.

I sent him a email right after he sent the payment about getting his account verified and head no response... So i will be sending his money back now and offering the next bidder the sale.

Don't do it... and next time don't ship international. There's enough people local who would want to buy... I would never ship and ebay item internationally.

You would think, but i had it listed for a while and no one wanted it... I always prefer cash deals over internet deals... Unless its a DVXuser then i would ship to Nigeria

(FYI: the buyer was not from Nigeria...)

paypal doesn't provide confirmation service in most countries, so there is probably no way your buyer can confirm the address.

Ask for a phone number. Then check the number in the phone book, then phone.

then send it with Fedex with signature required.

Europeans are people too (hard to believe but true!)

Yea i know, but with USPS you can only insure it for $650 so if something happened to it i would be out cash.

And i can't take a risk with thousands of dollars, i have no problem selling a $200 item international with out a confirmed address.

Its just when he asked if i sell to international i said "yes, only to confirmed addresses" and to then get a payment with it unconfirmed... after he was having issues with the account.

Chances are it was 100% legit, but i don't have that kind of cash to throw around and maybe get lost.

I did look into UPS, FedEx but they wanted over $350 to ship it. I was not about to take $200 of my profit for shipping the item.

Well that was also part of it, an account that was a few years old with only 2 feedback last 12 months is 100% but thats only on one transaction.

I got about 66 with 100% and been a member since 2002.

yeah ... and even if you had a problem, paypal sides with the buyer in disputes like 90% of the time (even if it's horeshit ... don't ask), plus it takes forever to resolve problems, so, if you do get money back, it's tied up for months in the dispute.

Yea, to much risk for me...

I re listed the item as the other bidder already got one...

Lets see how long it takes this time.
