Ebay Purchase?

Ive been looking around online for DVX prices, and I was looking on Ebay, and they have cameras for around 2500 with "premium packages" which I know are not premium at all. My point is, alot of them have a good rep with their sales, and they say they are authorized dealers. I was thinking of just buying from ebay.com. What do you guys think? Is Ebay a safe road to travel or not?

I'd stick with places like B&H. Where will the ebay seller be if the dvx breaks? who knows? B&H will be there for sure for years to come. Its a nightmare when things go wrong and you are dealing with small time places. Also, just because its through ebay, it won't mean its safe. When problems arise, ebay and paypal hide and say that its not their problem. Use a reputatable and authorized store and use a credit card from a big bank. Use ebay for small time purchases that you won't care about if things go wrong.

I've had great experiences with eBay. Bought everything from computers to cameras to cars without any problem.

Understand, however, that the lower-priced eBay DVX comes at a cost--it's probably a gray market camera with no US warranty. Once your transaction is complete, you'll get no support from the seller. That makes it a bit of a gamble.

I really looked into doing this too. Its looks like a great deal and those people on there have good feedback but I felt like it was too good to be true. I wound up buying a used dvx100a in the marketplace on here. Good luck with whatever you decide and let us know what happens

To state the obvious, a lot of those "premium bundle" deals are tossing in a bundle of crap items (cheap filters, flimsy tripods, etc.) that you will never use. You're better off focusing on the camera itself.

I looked at ebay the other day at the DVX100b's. What a nightmare!!! No way.

I just don't see the appeal for eBay

Yeah, it's a risk, but consider the money you can save it can be worth it. I've bought most of my home theater equipment off ebay and haven't had a problem. Always check two things though.
1. The sellers feedback and what he's previously sold.
2. The seller's current items.

Some guy on there has hacked various people's accounts so that people with a history of selling 1-2 baseball cards every few months suddenly are selling 5 pages worth of cameras, computers, and electronics for rediculously low prices.

Oh believe me I would not buy from somebody unless it said the Camera is "New In Box" and is a "US NTSC" Video Camera. Alot of these place sell "like new" cams, but there are some sellers who say they are authorized, and that the cam has the manufactures warranty with it. Those are the ones that I am wondering about. The other ones who sell used cams, are at best dreaming on me buying from them

I'd buy from another person on ebay, but never from one of those "buy it now with all the extras" companies.

thats exactly what I was looking at: 98% or above comments on SALES, not PURCHASES. Over 15000 Comments, Power Seller, Warranty, New In Box, "USA Product".

Exactly, I've saved up enough money and I'm gun hoe to buy it from that dealer too. I can't see how it would go wrong I mean with the amount of products sold I would figure there would have been some more negative feedback. They go through thousands of those packages a month, which is how they can drop the price so drastically

I was also looking at that same auction. It turns out that the ebay member sunshineelec is the same as http://www.shopsunshine.com. I emailed them and asked them about it beind sealed and having warranty and such.

They said, "It is a brand new camera it is sealed in the box. It comes with the full warranty." (they never said anything about USA???)

I have emailed them back to make sure that they guarantee it to be 100% USA model camera. The price just seems to good for it NOT to be a grey market camera!

I want to go for it too, but dont want to risk it not having a warranty, then recieving it and something doesn't work, then getting screwed out of my money.

Well I actually called the number and it was obviouly a call center that took the calls (I used to work at one, its blaintly obvious to spot them now) but anyway It seemed like the same operation that I bouht a wide angle lens from before, and I got the lens no hassel at all and it was in perfect condition. It was only $50 and I use it every day. A-1 **** for bottom of barrel prices. Im buying mine from there, not to mention you get a shitty tripod and some other ****. I dont care if it is junky stuff, Ill still use it. I always need a campy tripod to take with me rather than my good one.

after over 21 thousand sales it wouldn't take a mathematician to realize that anything less than %100 after ONE rating would lower their overall percentage.

Im going to call them tomorrow to confirm if it still has a factory warranty, if it does, its sold.

I bought my DVX off ebay, I avoided anyone offering those cheap extras, and focused only on the camera. I found one for $2700 from a seller with over 15000 transactions and 99% positive.
The camera is grey market, they even cut out the labels on the box, I knew this before I bought it and reliezed it was a gamble. The good thing is everything is perfect and was able to get a manfrotto 503 head and 525mvb tripod with the money I saved

BTW I bought from sunshine it is USA model 100BP, but it is grey market without question, I wouldnt expect a warranty

3,149.95 from B&H (after rebate) ... a good price from someone you can trust, and you can sleep well at night.

No way I would risk such a high purchase from ebay. Ebay is not a reputable source in my opinion, its like a flea market.

Also remember how many negative feedbacks go un registered, someone has to get realllyy pissed off to leave negative feedback, most problems get "settled out of feedback" so there is a lot of issues that we won't know about.

EBAY is a shady place and always will be full of crooks. Don't come crying to this board when you get jacked...

Well I will certainly try my hardest to hold back pouring my heart out and "crying" to any board. Since I do have a track record for crying to online forums, it may be tough but hopefully I can muster the strength.
