ebay fraud? please write me your tips what to do.

hello, i am not a big ebayer, so i need your advice. i won auction about panasonic p2 card from not very active user (about 30 positive feedbacks), i paypaled the ammount to his account but the transaction stayed UNCLAIMED (blocked by paypal) because user account email was not registered.

he send me quite offensive email that if i will not send money asap, he will relist the auction, so i came on the status of unclaimed payment and send him info about wrong email etc...

he answered that he used his email wrong and he tried to update paypal email in ebay profile, but it looks that was not proceeded correctly so i should send money to some diferent paypal adress directly without ebay. is this save?

PS: he wrote me in email today that he called yesturday to paypal to make sure it is the best way how to solve situation, but if i read well on paypal site, phone support works only from mon-fri...
 
DO NOT PAY unless through ebay it his job to make sure he can get pay when he listed the item on ebay and DO NOT DELETE any email that he sent you. Notify paypal fraud and ebay so you dont get negative feedback. good luck
 
Since your not in the US, the laws and such are likely different and paypal may have even less protection for you, but you should obviously be very wary. The fact that he sent a nasty email is a clue that this is likely a scam.

One thing you should do is look at his past feedback and his past auctions and see if there's any discrepancies which may clue you in on if someone stole this account.

My advice would be to only make payments using paypal and making payments using the pay now button on the items listing page . That way if there are and issues you would be covered by paypal. It is quite possible that the seller has made a mistake in regards to his paypal email address but it is up the the seller to sort that out .

any problem, any question, any weird emotional actions= get out now don't look back, how do you get your money back from the paypal hold?
don't insult him, if the payment goes through to him you may be needing him to send the card etc.
 
make him give up a website if he has one . check out who he is? i did put a stop paypal order on a purchase here on dvx user when i sent $800 and the seller was not returning emails. then i got a email he sent it to someone elses address in Florida. I thought i was screwed. so i tryed to put a paypal stop payment on the $$. it screwed up my paypal account so i could not send $$$ . It took me a month to sort out. luckily some guy who received my stuff .he sent it up to the Canadian border. i ended up calling paypal by phone.
 
My guess is the "original" owner of the ebay account with 30 positives was a good guy. Unfortunately, lots of good guys inadvertantly download virus-ridden software on their PC with the BAD GUYS monitoring the good guys ebay login ID/password. If this is the case, the BAD GUY can't easily redirect the good guys PayPal to get your money through his scam...

UNLESS YOU WIRE PAYPAL FUNDS TO THE BAD GUYS PERSONAL ACCOUNT!!! But you don't really want to do that, do you now? Too many innocent guys have fallen for these types of phishers.

Actually, a few transactions back I had TWO different BAD GUYS both overbidding to "win" my prosumer camcorder. It turned out both of them had fraudulently stolen the ID/Password from normal ebay customers.

Caveat Emptor - momma said it was a cold, cruel world out there...
