Easy to Work with GH2 Footage in Vegas?

Just picked up a GH2 and am thinking about switching from FCP to Vegas for several reasons, what do you guys think about using Vegas with the GH2 footage? I'm just sort of tired of final cut and have a fast PC laptop, and have also heard vegas can import the footage directly without an extra converting step.

Also, anybody know if this version of vegas handle keying/greenscreen? http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiopp

Thanks ya'll, Ben

I have been using VMS 10 and it's more than sufficient to edit Panny AVCHD. I've used it extensively with 1080/60p from the TM700 and 45mbps mov's from a T3i. Seems to be handling it flawlessly on a i7 920 system with win7 64bit. I've not tried any green screen, so I can't comment there. When comparing bang for your buck it's money well spent IMHO

Cheers,
Pete

I've been using Vegas for 10+ years now, and am totally happy with it. It's fairly fast and pretty flexible, but requires a good CPU ( intel i7 if possible ).

The consumer version of Vegas is built upon the same code base as the pro version, so they work identically and the consumer version does produce professional results.

I don't know if the Vegas consumer line can handle chroma-keying, but the version you listed does take plug-ins.

i got i7 and sony vegas po 10 with gh1/gh2, once you get into chroma key, things start to get slow, at least for me,choppy play back, imagine if you had to work with 3 or 4 choma key tracks at same time, thats tough, maybe there is a work around for it, anyone is getting good editing tips while using chroma key clips in vegas pro?

I use GH2 and GH1 footage straight from camera with Vegas 10. There were issues with v9 but v10 has totally fixed them.

I'm on an i7 920 with 12gb RAM.
