i have noticed 4 out of 5 commercials these days end with text that always has a silver streak going through the text from left to right. Or maybe its just a lighter color of the text. Anyway, it looks simple but is used soo much now, so anyone know the best way to do this? or a tutorial on how to do this? Pay attention to commercials, it is weird how often this is done now.

make and adjustment layer over the text
to it add levels, and drop the input white (brightening the text)
then add a mask to the adjustment layer, make the mask a small sliver
animate the mask from the left to the right,

As the mask swipes over the text it intensifies the colors of the text

Watched a bunch of commercials. Didn't see it. 0/10 . Maybe we watch different channels :D

Not sure if this is want you want, but another easy is to use CC Light Sweep and keyframe the center parameter

As suggested above, a sample video would help
