Easy Rig "Turtle-X"

Anyone had any experience using this device with AF 100? After much experimentation I've decided that a shoulder mount just doesn't work very well with the AF-100. Interested in giving this contraption a go. Demo video looks pretty sweet and who doesn't like the Swedish?

Then again some shoulder rigs are just sticks with a handle and a pad :cheesy:

I have been shooting with the Easy Rig 2.5 with broadcast cams for the past four years or so - I now refuse to shoot hand held without it. Yes, it is expensive (very) but it has saved my back & shoulder which means that I can continue to work so I guess it has paid for itself.
Unfortunately the AF-102 is too lightweight for the 2.5 rig, even when fully optioned up, it just swings about in the air.
If you are going to shoot a lot of hand held I think the Turtle X would be a useful tool even though the Panasonic's weight isn't going to break your back (or forearms)

I haven't used it in anger but looked at it closely at IBC last week. The Easy Rig guys were very helpful and knew what they were talking about. The bigger rigs are shaped more like a steadicam bracing system so i can see that they could work, but for me the turtle didn't really do anything. It's basically a backpack so the firm back support isn't really there, in fact after about 15 minutes it made my back ache rather than ease the load. Since it can't be used for stabilisation while shooting, it seems a very extravagant way to hold a camera between shots, especially one as light as the Af101, even when it does have rails and monitors etc attached.

I had a Turtle XS but ended up returning it. Perhaps it was only user error, but first time I tried to use it on a paying gig the zipper system malfunctioned, & I wasn't able to releases the Petrol backpack from the frame, so ended up shooting handheld instead.

Wished it had worked out as I liked the incorporated backpack concept for field work.

The AF100 with a fast zoom, & Zacuto EVF, weights in around 8+ lbs., so some of the more expensive EasyRigs should work, & I'm going to rent before purchasing.
