E Series P2 Card problem-- Help please!

Hey there,

I recently purchased a 16GB P2 E Series card for my HVX200P. I am familiar with the firmware upgrade process as I had to do it once before to get my camera to recognize 16GB R Series cards.

I have updated to the latest firmware that is supposed to let my camera use E Series cards (4.10) And on following the steps outlined in the PDF on the Panny firmware upgrade page, my camera indeed confirms that it is updated to 4.10.

However, on inserting the E Series card I still get a Fromat Err! and cannot use the card.

I rinsed and repeated this process 3 times but its the same each time.

Any ideas? I really thought the firmware upgrade would do the trick.

forgive me if this is a silly question . . . have you formatted the P2 Card (in camera) yet?

Yes, I formatted the card

I took it back to the dealer and swapped it out with another card, and presto.. it worked. Dud card perhaps..

I have the same card with the same camera, and I didn't have to do anything. it worked out of the box

My system info for my HVX200P says version 2.02-00-0.00 but the pdf has a picture w/ version 1.03-00-0.00. So is mine wrong? I'm still using the old 8gb p2 card and haven't upgraded any firmware since I bought the camera (2006).

The latest version system software for the HVX-200A (NTSC) is 4.10-00-0.00. The latest firmware update made the camera compatible with the new "E" series P2 cards. Not sure what the HVX200P is. You can check here: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/desk/e/update.htm#p2_pc

Well, if your stuff's working than you're never wrong . . . but yeah, you probably want to keep up to date on firmware upgrades.

Is it possible to shoot HD footage using HPX172 (PAL Area) straight to SD Card slot??
I bought this 32GB SD Card, but I can not use it to record any footage??
