dvxuser and FS700 forum

Does anyone find it strange that dvxuser admins refused to even acknowledge F700 existence, which is one of the most popular camera in 2012? They could have at the very least renamed this forum to "Sony FS100 & FS700." It would have taken 5 seconds to make that change.

I would suggest even a more general name that will cover all future emount camcorders: "Sony Nex "

I smell bias here ...
 
We combined GH Cameras and CAnon DSLRs together,

Just an FS Forum seems pretty in line with the rest of the site? Or FS100/FS700
 
I think it should just be NEX cameras, having the model line of cameras as the parent forum and then individual cameras as the sub-forums is a better way of doing it, so when the EA50 comes their can be a forum for that, etc...

Good idea, Liam. So many NEX cams due out.
 
If it is "NEX" are we going to have things like the nex-7 and nex-5n showing up in here as well, as those seem like very different cameras than what we are trying to encompass with a home for the fs100 and fs700.

Or, are we clear enough that we are in the video camera section for sony...

Whatever you guys want, I'll do it. I just don't want 8 million sub-forums. we already have a ton. If folks want separate sub-forums for the fs100 and the fs700, I'm cool with that, but it is going to end up living in a parent (main page level) "NEX" or "FS" or whatever forum. That cool?

While we're at it, why don't you guys discuss and figure out what changes you would like for the entire sony section here.

We can have parent forums that break the main lines down and allow for general discussion, and within each parent forum, there can be specific sub-forums for the more popular cams that are discussed here.

So, for example, in dealing with the fs100 and fs700, say we call it "NEX", or whatever. That will be the parent forum (main page level), which will be open for general threads. And, within that forum we can have a specific sub-forum for the fs100, and one for the fs700.

etc, etc.. that what you guys are wanting?

Well, just work it out, and when you come to a general consensus of how the sony video camera category will best serve you, let me know and I'll make it happen.

This seems the simple way to do it:

Thats very clear, I think that it should be something along the lines of

NEX Video Cameras (Parent Forum)
- Sub-Forums
FS100
FS700
EA50 (etc.. when it's needed, as in this situation when people are asking for it)

And then if their is demand for it a section separate for NEX line of non-video specific cameras, 5n, etc...

Instead of doing it like this

Which will just lead to the MAIN FORUM page being incredibly long...

Just my 2c... More sub-forums than parent forums seems a good way to go, to not clog up a main section of the board, to make it easier to navigate.

I think this is a great way to go. Makes a lot of sense to me, and keeps the 'NEX' cameras still somewhat together as
I think they have more to discuss in common with each other (things like lenses, metabones adapter, and so on) than they
do with other Sony camcorders such as the EX-1, EX-3 and so on.

No, I would like to see this forum renamed to "Nex" or "Emount." That will cover all FS cameras and new VG cameras, and the upming full frame NEX VG-900 which will be released next month.
 
Let's not create too many subforums. Too many dead forums is a very bad idea. Also, keep in mind that cameras get old and outdated within an year or two. So then you are stuck with dead forums with outdated cameras.

Just stick with one forum only. Just rename this forum to: "Sony Nex" or "Sony E-mount" and call it a day. That will create a much lively forum. One active forum is much better than a dozen dead forums for each specific model.

It's a very bad idea to create forum for each model. Cameras come and go.

Let's just have one forum for Sony Nex.
 
The point is.

If you make Parent Forums, AKA the attached photo that's floating around, then it effects every user on dvx.

If you make Sub-Forums, AKA forum inside a forum, forception? then it'll effect only the people searching for information on NEX cameras, a smaller group.

Makes the whole DVXUser board in general easier to navigate, let's be honest, their are far too many Parent Forums as it is.

I cannot decide which way will be easy for designer who actually do this job.. so, they have to make they own decision! ..but I'd like this to be done as soon as possbile! :)
