DVX's for Various Prices - what's the catch?

I can find a DVX100a for as low as $2299 at Broadway Photo. I've heard of places not being "authorized," but a camera is a camera. Right? What's the scoop on this huge variance in price?

they are either grey market (no warranty) or bait-and-switch (you need to buy overpriced accessories, else they will not sell u camera)

but yes, camera is a camera - its ur risk - you may or may not receive the camera with all supplied accessories (and Barry's wonderful book)

broadway photo is not a good place to buy a dvx. you will end up very frustrated if start to go down that path. they will not deliver as advertised and you will have very little recourse. the low price in the ad is a hook to get you to call. ask a lot of specific questions and request that they answer in writing and see what that price becomes.

Yeah, the short story is -- a camera is a camera, but that price is not necessarily the price you will pay. Either they will not sell you the camera for that price (without upselling you on a whole bunch of other crap, too), or you'll be scammed out of your cash.

Believe me, I know how you feel, but I wouldn't gamble $2300 that way; buy from a reputable dealer, and you definitely won't be sorry.

You can't go wrong when buying from Rush at EVS. Reasonable price, dvxuser discount, and knowledgeable staff. They know what they're selling and know if it's right for you.

i bought mine at digitalmegastore and didnt have any problems. I also had a problem with an extra battery I bougth there, I wrote them and they replaced it... good place.

definitely go with Rush at EVS. Also there's a huge thread about this topic called "authroized dealers" i believe

Yes, just got off the phone with him.

Having another DVX shipped to me on Wednesday. Now if I can just get the online rebate coupon to work.
