DVX200 Does not turn off

I left it stored in a closet and a month later:

All it does is start to record on the P2 card and wont stop. The off switch does not turn it off. The menu bottons do not respond and the reset button does not fix the problem. The only way of stopping it is removing the battery.

any ideas ?

sounds like it needs repair. I assume you mean HVX200. Search the forum for this issue, I recall reading about it many times not long ago, but I think the result was some type of defect.

I had almost the exact same problem awhile back after just putting my camera away for the night as usual. Turned out I had a "cracked" codec board which was strange since I have always treated my camera like a baby. It wasn't covered under warranty and with the new codec board a whole new group of problems arose. It was repaired at an authorized panasonic warranty repair center and took a few trips there, about $1000 and a whole lotta frustration before all issues were resolved. With that said heres hoping your problem is something different than mine..best of luck.
