DVX100P sound cutting out

I just bought a used DVX100p and for some reason the sound just keeps cutting off every few seconds as i'm filming with it. The channels are up to around half way and I've played around with them to figure out what's wrong. When I bought it the person said that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do? Or why it's happening?

You need to explain a bit more... do you mean the sound in the headphones, or recorded on tape? Do the meters show sound disappearing, or just the audio?

That said, one of the XLR ins on my DVX has gotten a little flaky, and with some cables suffers audio cutouts... so a different cable, or strain relief on the cable, may help.
