So I did a search and I found another thread which kind of just stopped. I come from a still photography background, and my understanding of Macro means focusing on something that is close to you. The other post said he was getting the macr setting at an AF44 or whatever.
I know the book says anything less than the 50 focus mark is macro, but the problem I'm having is why would I be focusing at 50 or below when I am recording a wide shot of a room, where the nearest object is 10 feet away?
Am I misunderstanding Macro from a video standpoint? Is my camera malfunctioning by displaying an improper focus number?
At 40ish everything does appear in focus through the LCD (and in footage), I just don't understand why I'm almost always in macro. the only time I get out of macro essentially is when I zoom in really close to something from far away. i.e. wide shot f the room, focus is 42 MACRO, zoom into blanket on couch, focus moves out of Macro range to 80-90.
Put fingers in front of lens (2 inches away) back down to AF20 MACRO.
Is my confusion clear?
