I rarely shoot skateboarding, but shoot snowboarding and skiing often, and i always shoot 60i and export 23.98 fps. thats just me.

Generally I shoot 60i for fisheye and 30p or 24p for long lens. It depends, if you are on a tripod the I'll use 24p but if I'm doing rolling long lens then I'll use 30p.

Hey, I was just wondering why mostly everybody likes to film skateboarding in 30p rather than 60i.

Don't know about specifically 'skatebording', but the the i in 60i means that two fields, to make a single frame, are acquired at different times and for 'motion', the
result is an artifact that adds 'jaggies' to motion.

Hey, I was just wondering why mostly everybody likes to film skateboarding in 30p rather than 60i.

I meet a lot of young and inexperienced videographrs who want to shoot everything in "24P". I think it is the buzz word "24P" as if to make themselves sound like they are more cool than they are.

When the DVX was first out the 24P mode was thought to be a gimmick.

Shooting 24P presents a bunch of problems, the biggest one is Strobing that is very common when shooting 24P. 24P can also present a bunch of problems for the editor who may need to use other video that was shot in 60i

24P, 30P, 60P or 60i????

I shoot just about everything in 60i, especially sports or anything that is for TV broadcast. I shoot progressive mode for Films, stock video or for artistic DVD releases.

The only time I ever shot 24p was when the client had 24p video already shot by other videographers or when they have film digitized that is 24p that they are using in the project. I also shot 24p for a period piece film to give it that early 50's look.
