Dvx100b + Varizoom LCD *Balancing the Merlin*

Hey everybody!

Just recently got my Merlin in.
I've been able to balance it with the dvx100b without any accessories. (Well atleast what I think is balanced im brand new to steadicam)

Im now working on balancing it with a Varizoom LCD light, which has a lightweight light attachment on top, and another attachment for a battery that can be clamped on the handle.

putting the battery on the handle makes the center of gravity relatively high, and makes the camera relatively top heavy.

Im having loads of trouble trying to get it to balance, any advice, tips, anyone done it before?

Thanks,
Jason

An LCD and batt. is too much for the merlin.

Try to mount the LCD and the batt as low as possible (As in real Steadicams)
Try not using the original bottom weight, the LCD will act as one.

Yup, Danny is right.

Chances are that the weight of the LCD & battery, plus their added height, are too much for the Merlin.

Is there something preventing you from using the camera's own LCD?
