I have spent most of the morning trying to troubleshoot a problem I had with the timecode on my newer 100B (only 41 hours). The TC was not showing up when I tried to preview the tape or transfer it to my computer (just gave 0s, with the asterisk), though the other tapes--this one was #2 of five--from the shoot were fine.
I had tried everything (reset the camera, cleaned heads, ff/rw from beginning to end, tried another tape, played in Sony DSR-11 and in a DVX100A--every possible suggestion I could find on this forum), and had just about resigned myself to the fact that the tape was lost forever, and I would have to break the news to the client, when...
I figured out that the tape was mislabled. It was unused and still blank.
I actually had the "missing" tape all along.
