Had the camera a few months, just goofing around in my backyard yesterday morning... this is shot 24pa with a polarizing filter.

The 16x9 Quicktime movie I exported from FCP looks great, but when I uploaded to Youtube it came out kinda between 16x9 and 4x3. Still trying to figure that one out...

when I heard that thing I nearly laughed right out of my chair. Its the same sound my computer makes when trying to render clips with fast motion.

Suggestion---turn that focus switch to manual, zoom all the way in to the end of that feeder, set your focus, then zoom back out to frame your shot. Try it and see the difference.
Better yet, post another clip with A/B comparisons. Intercut clips of "auto focus" then "manual focus" then let us see the difference in what you can do!

Appreciate the suggestions andl actually it is on manual everything, that's me racking in and out of focus, and it's zoomed in all the way already to get shallower DOF. That little red tip is bleeding color all over the place though, I had the chroma down to -2, no cinelike settings, and a polarizing filter and still crappy reds.

Reds are bad with the DVX. De saturate your footage and that should clean the reds. Or add a curves effect and a color levels effect to bring down the reds.
