I wanted to know if anyone thought the DVX100b is overpriced now for what you get.
Blah! Blah! I know all the standard answers people might throw out. At this point I
feel this price point is too high when you can have a better camera the same amount or less.

Just wanting to rile some feathers.

Thanks

p.s. I think a good price for this camera would be around $1,000 new.

As a small business owner, I wouldn't pay that much for an SD camera.

In fact, I'd not buy an SD camera at all in today's market, unless it was a cheapo consumer cam for Mom's birthday or something. But certainly not as a company investment.

It blows my mind that they sell these cams at the price point their still at. I have to remind myself that there's still millions of people that shoot sd. In fact, I spoke with one of the most popular wedding guys on cape cod, and he said, he's never had a request for HD. Seems hard to believe but it's true. I've always tried to stay somewhat current with video technology, but I guess there's still tons of guys that are afraid to switch to HD. I guess they lookt at it as "why spend the money if I can get the same amount for a wedding shooting it in sd.

There's always ways to up rez your footage to HD. i HAVE NEVER DONE IT. But I have seem clips that look damn good. Lets not forget the dvx is still a very nice camera. Just not what it's being sold for. :)

Spot on. I was a late bloomer to DVX (January 2009) but I don't have any problems with it. It's scary that I got in so late in the game, but HD is a very expensive endeavor, and for what I'm doing, is not entirely necessary.

I love my DVX-100b, and feel comfortable with it, I won't move to HD at least in a couple years, I'll keep running SD flawlessly.!!!

You can get a decent condition low hour hvx 200 for 2500. You can get a low hour dvx100 for less then 1000. I would never pay that for a new one. Especially since the min you take it out of the box its only worth 1000-1250.
