This is a new camera for me . Be patient

When I shoot via the dvx100B and the camera is shooting directly (pointing staright ) the LCD panel display is darker than when I point the camera slighthly downward (at an angle) All the sudden the colors are brigther and there seem to be more light when I shoot at the angle ?

Is this normal? Please assist? Is this how this camera should operate?

Thanks

are you saying that when you look at the lcd screen from different angles it gets darker and lighter?

HectorXD - When I point the camera downward the scene is brigther VS when I shoot straight at the same scene. So in affect i see more light on the LCD panel when I'm shooting the same scene with the camera slighthly pointed lower.

PHD - So if What I see on the LCD is normal .. Then I should always raise the camera higher on the tripod and then lower then camera at the scene/subject to get more light ? Does this make sense? Is this the nature of the lense?
And If I shoot directly/staright then I have less light to work with?
Please explain?

it has to do with the angle at which you see the LCD screen. it's hard to know if you're looking perfectly straight at it.any angle other than perfectly straight will change the brightnes of what you see, but not what's being recorded

uhm... you turn the LCD as you move the camera to have a straight on view ... my lCD looks no different wherever I point the camera.

But if you don't adjust the LCD angle as your perspective changes you will get a weird image ... just like on a laptop.

Your not affecting the image the camera is aquiring, LCD's just don't do well when viewed from some angles or when a light source is on them. That's why they make these:

grrr, thanks alot Jack. You posted a link to something that I wanted and I just couldn't resist buying it.... lol

Like all LCD's and Laptop monitors, the angle changes the brightness or darkness of the image. One of the best ways to calibrate this is to turn on your color bars and adjust the angle until the three vertical bars located on the bottom right are just barely visable. Now when you turn off the color bars, you have the correct balance of light on your LCD.

muahh ahahaha haha!

hey ericcosh, good tip, that's one of those things that's like "of course!" but I never though tof doing it before

it probably is the nature of LCD screesn, but it may also be your auto exposure. If you tile the cam down and it sees something it thinks is darker, it will open the iris letting more light in. To see if this is the case, in manual mode- press your exposure button and make sure it reads "manual exposure" on the LCD. Now tilt down and see if it changes again.

if you have a laptop computer. tilt the screen down and see what happens. same ****.

you should never set any exposure settings from a lcd monitor on a camera either. use the viewfinder.
