DVX100B Setup

In the camera menu, camera setup, setup option you have a choice between 0% and 7.5%. How does this effect the black level, and what does it do to your scene? Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Thx,
Virren Orr

This setting is mainly for analog vs. digital recording. As a general rule, you should leave your setting at "0", if it is raised to 7.5 it will change the digital data as it is being recorded.

In essance, it lifts all the black levels before recording. if you then transfer to analog tape, the analog format will ad another setup & your footage will look milky & flat.

Keep it at "0" unless your using your cam as a live feed & capturing to a Beta SP deck.

"0%" is the default setup for the DVX.

Standard analog recorded interlace video uses a 7.5%

If you want to crush or lighten your blacks, use Master Ped.

Cheers
