DVX100B setup level shift

I recently shot a Bat Mitzvah with two DVX100Bs. The lighting in the hall was dim, but between the DJ's lightshow and our camera-mounted lighting, the footage looked fantastic. In post, however, I noticed that the Setup (Black) level of both cameras would jump between 0 and 7.5 intermittently whenever the still photographer would take a picture, which flooded the dance floor with light. The black level would jump either up or down (depending on where it was previously) approximately 1 frame after the flash, and takes between 1 and 2 frames to reach its new level. The intermittent nature of this phenomena seems to be tied to the overall brightness of the photographer's flash: If the frame is pretty much flooded with white, there is a good chance the black level will shift. Off-axis flashes (and even the DJ's lightshow, which I shot directly into throughout the day) did not trigger this issue.

Though in a few instances the black level returned to normal on its own, ocassionally it took another flash of light for it to reset.

Both cameras exhibit this phenomena.

Relevant settings are as follows:
Gain: 3 dB
Synchro Scan: 1/60.3
Aspect Conv: Normal
Setup: 0%
AGC: Off
ATW: Off
Scene File 1...
Detail Level: -1
Chroma Level: -4
Master Ped: 0
Knee: Auto (smoking gun here perhaps?)
Matrix: Normal
V Detail Freq: Thin

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks

Yes, it's the Auto Knee, not the IRE level. Never use Auto Knee unless you enjoy sudden shifts in the brightness of your video...
