Hi guys. I am selling my DVX100b which I bought 1.5 - 2 years ago from B and H. It has been taken care of very very well. It has had a UV filter on it from the day I opened the package, it has never been dropped, and I have always kept it in it's case. This thing was my baby. It has about 155 hours on the heads and it has just been serviced. I haven't used it much in the past 3 - 6 months or so, and since I am selling it, I wanted to make sure everything was in good shape. I sent the camera from So Cal up to Robb's repair in Washington State. Robb is known as one of the best and most thorough in the business. I could have just driven into LA, but I chose to send it to him and I think it was worth it. I have looked at it and talked to him on the phone. Let me just say that this camera looks like it is brand new. He fine tuned and aligned everything, not just the tape deck. Literally everything was checked so you can be confident in your purchase. The tape heads were cleaned and tuned and any parts that were worn were replaced. So yeah, this is a great deal for someone out there. I kind of regret spending 230 bucks on the servicing, but at the same time, I could not sell something without knowing it worked great.

Externally, the camera still looks pretty nice. It has no large cracks or scuffs or anything like that. There may be some very small scratches or marks, however I am turning it over in my hands now and I actually can't find any, so maybe Robb somehow polished it up, I don't even know if that is possible, but it does look nice. The bottom of the camera is a bit more "blemished" with some small scratches. In addition, the sticker is worn. These are pretty normal things I think and come from being on a tripod, and from being set on normal surfaces like tabletops and counters etc. So yeah, I don't know if I would say the camera looks brand new, but it should be very close and it is definitely nice looking.

Why should you buy this camera? Well obviously this camera is not for everyone, but if you have read this far, you are probably someone who might want a DVX. It all comes down to the final/main medium that you will output to. So if you really intend to deliver on Blue ray, you would want an HD camera. For times when you are outputting to DVD's for wedding and event videos or for corporate videos, than this is a great camera. The DVX is still used in professional settings. Don't kid yourself, the whole world isn't as up to date as DVXuser. We sell our cameras waiting for scarlet and the perfect VDSLR's when most of the world is still watching TV on standard definition sets. The DVX will be around for a good while longer and is even still quite useful to filmmakers, experienced and unexperienced. For the unexperienced, this is a great camera to learn manual controls on before you decide if you want to invest in something else. As for the experienced people, well I'll just say that I have seen some upscaled DVX footage that blows my mind and certainly blows some HD footage out of the way. So yeah. The DVX is not necessarily for everyone but I assume if you are reading this you may be interested, and if you are interested, there is a good chance a standard definition camera is an ok solution. And when it comes to standard def cameras, none can beat the DVX100b.

Now for the pictures.
